Shifting Perspectives: A Milestone Achievement for My Art Journey

I am thrilled to share an incredible milestone in my artistic journey: my painting “Shifting Perspectives” has been acquired by the Office of Public Works (OPW) for inclusion in the prestigious Irish State Art Collection. 

“Shifting Perspectives” painting was inspired by my late grand-uncle french pointillist painter Serge Ponomarew. The linen fabric used for this artwork has a rich history, having been passed down through generations of my family. It carries with it stories and memories, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to create something special from it. 

This painting is deeply rooted in the exploration of human emotions, experiences, energy, and our evolving connection with the natural world around us. Through layers of vibrant hues and expressive textures, the painting invites viewers to pause and reflect, challenging them to see beyond the obvious and embrace new ways of thinking and seeing. For me this piece symbolises growth, change and the delicate transformation.

The Significance of OPW Acquisition

The OPW’s Irish State Art Collection is one of Ireland’s most esteemed art collections, showcasing works that reflect the richness and diversity of contemporary Irish art. For my painting to find a home in this collection is an honour beyond words and dream come true. It means that “Shifting Perspectives” will not only be seen by a wider audience but will also become part of Ireland’s cultural legacy, inspiring viewers for generations to come.

This achievement felt like the perfect way to wrap up 2024 filled with changes, challenges, growth, and meaningful connections. From exhibiting at ArtSource in the RDS to collaborating with private collectors, every step has been a reminder of why I embarked on this artistic journey. The acquisition of “Shifting Perspectives” underscores the importance of staying true to my vision and creating art that speaks from the heart. It also highlights the role of art in fostering dialogue and bridging perspectives, something I strive to achieve through every piece I create.
