Care & Materials

Care & Materials

Each painting is created with attention to longevity, stability and presence. Materials are chosen not for trend or marketing language, but for how they perform over time in real spaces - homes, collections and architectural environments.

Materials & Construction

My paintings are created using professional-grade acrylic paints on high-quality, primed cotton canvas. Acrylic allows for depth, layering and colour clarity, while offering long-term stability when properly cared for.

Canvases are stretched on solid wood stretcher bars designed to maintain tension and structural integrity over time. Larger works are constructed with scale and durability in mind, suitable for long-term display.

Where applied, works are finished with a professional protective varnish to support colour stability and surface protection. Varnishes are used in line with contemporary fine-art best practice.

Why Acrylic
I work primarily with professional-grade acrylic paints for their colour stability, flexibility and long-term performance. High-quality acrylics are lightfast, resistant to yellowing and form a stable paint film when properly applied and cared for. When used with archival supports and protective varnishes, acrylic paintings are widely accepted in contemporary fine-art collections and museum contexts.

Longevity & Quality

All materials are selected with longevity and stability in mind, following best practice for contemporary acrylic painting. While no artwork is entirely immune to environmental conditions, careful material choice and proper care ensure the work is made to last.

Each original painting is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Display & Care Guidance

To preserve your artwork in its best condition:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or intense heat
  • Keep away from damp or excessively humid environments
  • Handle with clean hands and avoid touching the painted surface
  • For cleaning, gently dust with a soft, dry cloth
  • Do not use water, cleaning sprays or chemicals on the surface
  • If you are unsure about placement or care, I’m always happy to advise.

Framing & Presentation

Paintings may be displayed framed or unframed, depending on the work and the space. Framing recommendations can be discussed for commissioned pieces or upon request.

A Note on Care

Paintings are living objects - they respond to light, space and time. With considered placement and basic care, each work is intended to remain a lasting part of your home or collection.
